Since then, I was taught to call you father
Knowing You are God
The one in control over all
Unaware of how vivid You want our relationship to be

I was ignorant back then
Calling you with a relational name
Without me reflecting the real meaning
Maybe I did because they just told me so

Only once in my life
I can remember you punished me
And that's when I came to realized that You really are my dad
Loving and caring me, concern about me

Father, I pray, I beg, I ask
Please don't put me in a situation
When I need to face Your disciplinary action
I don't wanna make a mistake that would lead me into one

I do not claim to be perfect
No, I am not and will never be
I am not saying I don't need Your discipline
In fact, I need Your corrections

Whenever You need to teach me something
And every time You are molding my character
Instead of punishing me, You're telling me, You're explaining to me, You're showing me
And that's how I love the way you discipline me

God, I am calling, heavenly father
Talk to me, and I will listen
Show me how, and I will watch
Teach me now, and I will learn
